British billionaire and former owner of the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club Joe Lewis arrives at federal court for his sentencing in an insider trading case on April 4, 2024, in New York City. U.S. District Judge Jessica Clarke in Manhattan sentenced Lewis, who pleaded guilty in January to one count of conspiracy and two counts of securities fraud. Lewis in January entered a plea deal with prosecutors agreeing to a $50 million fine of his Bahamas company, Broad Bay. Under the agreement, Lewis' fine will be included in the total. Lewis has since remained in the country, posting $300 million bail secured by his yacht and a private aircraft.

New York CNN —The market for environmental, social and corporate governance, or ESG, investing is fundamentally broken. “ESG investing … entering the final quarter of 2023 continues to be a story of declining flows and assets under management,” said Robert Jenkins, head of global research at Lipper. Before the Bell spoke with Jenkins about the future of ESG investing in the US and globally. What trends did you see regarding ESG investing last quarter? Before the pandemic, we had kind of a nice, natural looking growth line to ESG products.

But when the barbarous scale of Hamas’s October 7 attacks on Israel became clear, staying silent ceased to be an option. “Saying nothing speaks to cowardice,” said Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, a professor at the Yale School of Management who focuses on corporate leadership among other issues. All in, around 80 household-name companies in America have condemned the Hamas attacks, as tracked by Sonnenfeld who maintains a list. “Not taking a stand is taking a stand,” Susan, who served in the Israeli special forces, told CNN.

CNN —British billionaire and owner of the Tottenham Hotspur football club Joe Lewis was indicted on insider trading charges by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, the office announced Tuesday. In a video posted to social media, US Attorney Damian Williams accused Lewis of orchestrating a “brazen insider trading scheme” between 2013 and 2021, passing confidential trading tips to his “romantic partners, his personal assistants, his private pilots, and his friends,” helping them make millions of dollars. On other occasions, Lewis allegedly pressed his personal assistants and romantic partners to trade on the information he provided as soon as possible. Lewis is the majority owner of the Premier League football team, Tottenham Hotspur, and the founder of private equity company Tavistock Group, which invests in more than 200 companies across 13 countries, according to its website. Mr. Lewis has come to the US voluntarily to answer these ill-conceived charges, and we will defend him vigorously in court.”Neither Tottenham Hotspur nor Tavistock Group immediately responded to a request for comment.
